About Paul

“There are no small cases, only small attorneys. People entrust us with the problems in their lives and livelihoods. I know firsthand that fortunes can turn on a dime and will bring the same thoughtful and measured consideration to the bench.”

Paul Byron Royer is a 2003 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law and lives in Gettysburg along with his wife of 21 years and their two children. He grew up in part on an apple orchard in nearby Cashtown, and graduated from the Mercersburg Academy in 1993. He received his B.A. from Northern Illinois University where he was a captain on the Lacrosse team.

After he received his Juris Doctor, Attorney Royer practiced in Maryland and the District of Columbia where he gained significant civil trial experience. The next phase of his career was spent in the natural gas industry in the northern tier of Pennsylvania where he focused on oil and gas lease acquisition, determining ownership of mineral rights and curing title defects.

After returning to the area in 2016, Attorney Royer has worked in private practice and spent two years serving as an Assistant Public Defender. He has argued successfully in front of the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court on three occasions and is licensed in Pennsylvania, Maryland, various federal jurisdictions and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

Paul has also been an active member of the Christ Lutheran Evangelical Church in Gettysburg, serving in a leadership capacity and advisory roles on the Church Council.
